ABOUT US
We like to think of ourselves as treasure hunters, in constant pursuit of beauty, of things that are forgotten by time and that are simply waiting to be brought back to their original splendour. We buy only what we like and what we feel we must have. Our mission is to provide our clients with pieces that stand out, have original design and have a great story to tell. From antique church panels with beautifully timeworn patinas to beaten-to-hell country tables and heavy industrial lighting. Our eclectic taste for furniture and decoration includes pieces from the XVIII century to contemporary. These ideas are the basis of Le Icone, a décor and design company that has its roots in Italy, in the heart of Puglia. Our items are of different kinds, eras, materials and styles and that is why they are ideal to furnish any space from country houses to modern and minimal apartments. We are Aleksandra and Nicolò and we are Le Icone.

SALVAGE AND SELECTION
Our favourite hunting grounds are private houses in the countryside, old warehouses, dusty basements, shops and antique fairs. Here is where we source most of our stock following solely our taste and intuition. We concentrate on pieces with a certain originality , that have an interesting design and are of good quality; selecting unrestored furniture where the history and the passage of time is visible.
Our research is always a lottery. We never know whether our salvage ventures will lead us to find new pieces. Sometimes we come back with nothing but there are times when our van isn’t big enough and we have to keep some of the new finds with us on the front seats. We feel extremely privileged to do what we do and live for the overwhelming sensation of awe that you experience when you stand speechless in front of a wonderful piece that hasn’t seen the light in a long time. These are the kind of pieces we like to buy and select for our shop and website.

OUR RESTORATION PROCESS
We believe that antiques need to show their age. A small scratch, an inscription hidden inside a drawer, flaky patina and signs of wear add charm and tell a story. Through our restoration work we aim to bring these stories to life, while preserving the original qualities of each piece so that they will stand the test of time and retain their heritage.
All our pieces are first cleaned, sanitised and then treated against woodworm or rust. After which we begin the repair and restoration process using eco-friendly products wherever possible.
Finally they are photographed and put on display in our showroom in Puglia and on our website.

OUR HOME
Our décor-centric shop is situated in Via San Quirico 19, on the Belvedere of Cisternino, a beautiful small town in the heart of the picturesque Apulian countryside. The shop is set inside the walls of the old town, in a traditional 18th century stone building that was once the warehouse and cistern of the bordering Palazzo Amati. Here you will find some of the best pieces of our collection.
We also have a large warehouse full of treasures and unrestored pieces a few minutes walking away from our shop that can be visited by appointment.
