Fratelli Grilli Firenze Incubator

Fratelli Grilli Firenze Incubator

One of those pieces we fell in love with. Unique shape, colour and aesthetics. Sleek profile.

Made between 1880s and the beginning of the XX century, this incubator was a device used to simulate avian incubation by keeping eggs warm and at a constant temperature untill their hatching. Since most of the necessary parts needed for the functioning  of the incubator were missing, we decided to opt for a less conservative restoration. For this reason it was converted into a display cabinet. The incubator in question was built by the Fratelli Grilli (Grilli Brothers), a company based in Florence, Tuscany, that opened its doors in 1880 and was specialised in the avian sector.

The top part of the incubator is elegantly adorned with brass decorations. On the base there is still the ceramic label which certifies the name of the manufacturer and the drawing of a couple of chicks that reminds us the original purpose of this piece. The structure of the cabinet is attached to four elegant turned legs. In addition to the display space, there is a small extra storage space that can be used by opening the only drawer of the incubator.

A very rare item, very difficult to find on the market. Ideal to expose collections (precious stones, coins, and valuable objects..) or as a display counter in a shop.
