This raku vase was inspired by the ocean and the sea concretions which are the basis of life and marine ecosystems. One of Aguiar’s objectives is to inform the observers about very small and hidden organisms that are crucial for the proliferation of life. This piece invites us to think about the extreme importance of those elements which are almost invisible to the eye but that encompass so much beauty and relevance. The colour of these raku ceramics is inimitable since the fusion between the glazes and the organic materials that interact during the firing process is entirely random.
