After the great space discoveries such as the launch of Sputnik 1 by the Soviet Union and the moon landing in 1969,  society and design changed forever. People were eager for objects and lighting that could somehow remind them of space and spaceships and that is why many of the lights manufactured during those years had this futuristic profile.
